SUMMARY

This position is responsible for facilitating the physical fulfillment of the Artistic vision for all company and MCB School performances. This role is also responsible for overseeing and managing all theatre operations from load-in to rehearsal, performance and load out, and for the safe operations of all facility and theatre activity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct the preparation, creation, maintenance, repair, installation, and operation of all theatrical equipment.
• Hire, manage, and supervise full-time, seasonal, part-time, contracted, Union and Production staff. Serve as primary interface with all venue-provided labor.
• Create all technical drawings and paperwork necessary for the installation of the productions into and out of the theatre. With the General Manager, negotiate and manage all Scenic, Lighting, Sound and Special Effects design and consultant contracts. Negotiate and manage all lighting equipment, scenic construction, and equipment transportation as well as purchase and rental activities.
• Assist the Production Stage Manager in the creation of the general Production Schedule for each main stage production. Manage all staff in the achievement of that schedule.
• Create and track annual operating budget for the Production Department. Oversee the accounting and reporting of Production department finances. Review, approve, and track all accounts payable for Production department invoices and payroll.
• Create all technical drawings necessary for the bidding for and/or construction of any new production. Oversee, manage, and actively create any new scenery, prop, road box or storage crate construction.
• Provide Company Manager any necessary logistical and technical information necessary for the pursuit of international and domestic touring engagements. Author Technical Riders for all international and domestic touring.
• Responsible for warehouse/workshop operations and the safe storage, maintenance and inventory of all physical production equipment therein.
• Act as reference, advisor, and facilitator to all departments in areas of production, i.e. special events, marketing, development, and community engagement events requiring technical support, transportation, permitting, or Company or School dancers, both inside and outside the company’s facilities.
• Other duties as assigned by General Manager and Artistic Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of five years related field experience in theatrical technical production with some experience in a major national performing arts center at the equivalent scale (in terms of crew, lighting, scenery, etc.) of Miami City Ballet productions
• Touring experience highly preferred
• Excellent communication and team building skills
• Ability to lead, supervise, and coordinate administrative and production staff as well as provide support for designers and artistic staff
• Lead crews effectively
• Experience working with IATSE crews and working conditions
• Computer skills – Microsoft office, Cad, Microsoft outlook

Pre-professional/professional ballet training and performance experience.

Prior experience in summer camps or dance studio teaching.
